Encouraging kindness to make the world a better place

The Just do Kindness Foundation,  also known as the JDK foundation,  has been created to honour the memory of Julianna, the kindness she embodied in life, to keep her light shining and to inspire others to be kind. Julianna exuded positivity, beaming a smile at every turn. She was a light; a girl who had so much love in her heart and wanted peace throughout. ⁣

The JDK Foundation hopes to achieve the same with the purpose of making kindness an instinct in the larger dream of making the world a better place. ⁣

Let’s start a movement, let’s help one another, let’s be kind!

It is incredibly easy to be bitter and infuriated when horrible acts of injustice have occurred. We are. But when someone so young is able to touch so many, we have to let kindness supersede. All she wanted was love and peace throughout, and that is why we are here; to just do kindness.

In the summer of 2018, 10-year-old Julianna Despina Kozis was tragically killed in the Danforth shooting. Truly embodying kindness and positivity in life, Julianna’s death inspired her family to launch a foundation in her honour.

Julianna was determined and brave; spunky and rambunctious. Yet she was mature and gentle and observed the little nuances and details a lot of people don’t notice. She loved to create, to be in the water, to do gymnastics, to explore and to learn. She was silly and funny and joyful and kind. Her smile and laugh were contagious.

about the foundation

The mission of JDK Foundation is to spread kindness with the dream of making the world a better place. For its first campaign, the foundation launched an event to support grieving children and their families through a partnership with Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre.

One of the most powerful tributes to Julianna is to ensure
that her bright light continues to shine, inspire and bring hope to the lives of others who most need it.
— Anastasia Kanellakis, cousin to Julianna and founder of JDK Foundation
