Remembering Julianna

Julianna was a competitive synchronized swimmer, a fan of doing cartwheels and a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece and friend. She brought light and love to everyone in her life.

Julianna embodied kindness. From a young age, she stood up for what she believed and had strong morals and integrity. When a friend was being bullied at school, Julianna defended and advocated for him by going to his teacher and the school’s principal.

Julianna showed empathy and compassion and was protective of her loved ones. At her birthday party, people joked about something that was personally offensive to a friend of hers. Rather than participating in the events, Julianna made sure her friend wasn’t exposed to any negativity. To this day, this friend probably has no idea what was said or how Julianna looked out for her. Whether it was picking lint off of someone’s shirt saying, “I got that for you” or taking extra safety precautions at night by making her rounds throughout the house; locking the doors, ensuring the garage was closed, that the taps were not dripping or fluffing her mother’s pillows exactly how she knew she liked them, she watched out for those around her.

Julianna was not only kind to people, but also kind to our planet. She had a wonderful green thumb and she loved nature and being in the garden. Once, she brought home a tiny little strawberry plant from school.  She was told that it would not bear fruit in the first year. But Julianna was committed to it and she took such good care of that little plant. She watered it, talked to it and she gave it love. Lo and behold, against the odds that little plant grew a plump strawberry in its first year.

Julianna was a little firecracker; a fighter with the sharpest mind, yet so pure and graceful. Her genuine happy spirit is kindness and this world could use more of it.
